I didn’t get pictures! D’oh! And John O’Neill was really nice — congrats on the story in BlackGate. I have one I think would fit but everytime it’s ready to resub, they’re “temporarily closed.”

Oh, whoah, John O’Neill was on that panel, too! He’s the guy that edits Black Gate magazine, which is going to publish my short story, eventually.

Ah–this thing happened months ago, didn’t it? Oh well.

I highly recommend that mag, by the way–very good content-to-cost ratio.

The stories from my old library about the rare (and just out-of-print) collection-building do sound a bit Indiana Jones-ish. And people think librarians are boring — they have NO IDEA!

Thanks for the feedback! Who knows what’ll happen with this idea; I’m still poking at it with sticks, so it may start reacting and turn into a Big Idea.

This is interesting.

I’m actually fascinated by the idea that you might explode this into a full-sized novel. Kind of a Club Dumas/Harry Dresden book, only with less gloomery and more hot librarians.

I had a friend that worked for Rare Book Acquisitions at the University of Texas, Austin library. This was a fascinating job; he was like some kind of spy/thief, but for books.

How are things going on the books? No posts in awhile….

La Cause sounds so fun. And I agree with you about childhood. Mmmm. It *was* different then. Someday, we’ll all be talking about this at the nursing home and the young’un caregivers will nod and smile and think we are just senile.
